On earlier Wolf CT induction cooktops, including the CT30I/S, CT36I/S, CT30IU and CT36IU, HOT is meant to turn off once the glass cools. If it stays on after the unit is cool, and performance may be reduced, the official cause is an induction coil thermistor failure, covered by a 2008 service bulletin. You will see HOT lit long after cooking ended.
1. Turn every burner off and wait at least two hours so the glass is truly cool. 2. Switch the cooktop breaker off for a minute, then restore it. 3. Check whether HOT clears; do not cook while it stays lit. 4. If it remains, call us and leave the glass and the unit closed.
The cooktop thinks it is hot because the coil thermistor reading is wrong. That is the failure named in the official bulletin for this model family.
Often yes, but with reduced performance, because the control limits power when it believes the glass is hot. We advise getting it checked rather than relying on it.
A reset can clear a one-time glitch. If HOT returns while the cooktop is cool, the thermistor likely needs replacing, and we will quote that in writing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
