E84 on Wolf CSO convection steam ovens, including the CSO24 and CSO30 series, means the slider was not initialized. The slider is the exhaust slide mechanism, and at start-up the oven has to move it to a known position. When that does not complete, the display shows E84 and the oven will not run normally. It is related to the E77, E85, E86 and E88 slide codes.
1. Let the oven cool completely. 2. Wipe the cavity with a damp cloth, keeping away from exhaust openings. 3. Switch the breaker off for one minute, then restore power so it can try to initialize again. 4. If E84 shows again, leave the oven off and call us.
At power-up the oven drives the slider to a reference position. If it never gets there, it cannot know where the slider is, so it reports E84.
One reset is worth trying, because it makes the oven repeat the initialization. If E84 returns, a mechanical or motor cause is likely. Starting point for us is usually slider not reaching its start position, with the price written down before any work.
We inspect the slide mechanism and motor, tell you the price in writing, and repair or replace what is confirmed, with a 30-day warranty. We would also rule out slide motor or valve sticking before recommending anything.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
